Overview

The Khatyn Memorial is a World War II memorial complex located in Belarus, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Nazi occupation of Belarus and specifically the village of Khatyn, which was destroyed by the Nazis in March 1943. The complex was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a number of sculptures, including a bronze statue of a grieving mother holding her dead child, as well as a memorial wall listing the names of the 186 Belarusian villages that were destroyed during the war. The site serves as a somber reminder of the horrors of war and the need to honor and remember those who lost their lives.
