Getty Center

The Getty Center is a museum and research institute located in Los Angeles, California, United States. The center is dedicated to the arts and cultures of ancient and modern times, and features collections of European paintings, drawings, sculpture, decorative arts, and manuscripts, as well as American and European photographs. The Getty Center also includes a research library, conservation institute, and education center, and it hosts a variety of exhibitions, lectures, and public programs. The Getty Center is situated on a hilltop overlooking the city of Los Angeles, and its campus is renowned for its modernist architecture and beautiful gardens. The center was designed by architect Richard Meier and opened to the public in 1997. It is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the other being the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, which houses the museum's collection of ancient Greek and Roman art.
