The Kwelera National Botanical Garden

The Kwelera National Botanical Garden in East London is South Africa’s 10th national botanical garden and the first to be established in the Eastern Cape. The Kwelera National Botanical Garden covers an area of approximately 200 hectares and was established in 2020 to conserve and showcase the unique flora of the Eastern Cape region. The garden is situated in the Kwelera Nature Reserve, which is known for its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty. The Kwelera National Botanical Garden features several walking trails that provide visitors with the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the area, including several scenic viewpoints. The garden is home to over 600 plant species, including many that are endemic to the region.
